Question by romulusnr: Why did Hillary Clinton’s powers of persuasion and influence fail at passing universal health care in 1993-four?
Hillary Clinton is mentioned to have superior influence and persuasion expertise. Where were they in 1993&4 throughout the very first time she tried to bring universal wellness care to America, but failed, even amongst the majority Democratic Party?

It was too ambitious, cost too much, and no way to pay for it.
They both have failed bills. Why did obama fail to get his bills passed all the 1000 he sponsored that never passed?
Of course you can go by anything about universal health care, cause he never tried to pass that before. Never even brought it up, except to run for president.
Hillary is fail, that is all.
America wasn’t ready for it then but with baby-boomers retiring it’s starting to get the attention it deserves.
She didn’t USE her powers of pursuasion but rather her POWER as the HMFIC of Bill’s Healthcare committee. She tried to railroad the program through with out outside input. Didn’t go down well at all.
Because the HMOs hadn’t started excluding payment and jacking up their prices for businesses then – so the crisis was not as well recognized.
Because they all Know we do not need socialism, we don’t need another nearly 15%+ base tax hike, like social security.
Capitalism and Free markets like our constitution have worked pretty well for the country for over 200 years, We really don’t need to change it.
Well in the first place she was the first lady and the congress and senate were not to keen about The first lady asking them to create and pass policy, this is why she had to settle for what we had and was not allowed to bring it up again while her husband was in office, second she was addressing a republican majority in the house which most were being persuaded by big money from drug companies and insurance companies, this is not a surprise considering it was the Nixon Administration who began the concept of HMO’s with his good friends at Kaiser Permante.
Baby Boomers are selfish people and Healthcare costs were less exspensive then..When they tell you numbers about healthcare they don’t tell you that some of the people counted as having healthcare are on social services like medicare and medicaid. or other assisted programs your already paying for the poor why let the middle class pay for themselves too.However I want the States to handle healthcare like education,police,etc.because I don’t want Congress Borrowing the money like with Social Security.
It can never pass because we now have to compete with China. China tried socialized medicine, it doesn’t work. Now they are moving away from it.
