i did a speech like that a while ago, this is it(please do not copy, just use it as a rubric):St. John’ s, Newfoundland- officials and the Nunatsiavut government have been having meetings to discuss educational issues from a disturbing report from a school in Nain about students using alcohol and committing suicide to cope. I do believe whatever the students are going through may be hard . But I also believe it shouldn’t that hard for them to cope with whatever they are dealing with. Instead of them coping with alcohol usage suicide there are many other options. For example, the students could try seeing a therapist to discuss their problems or the school counselor or talk to their parents or anything else that could help them. These are their choices besides hurting themselves. Also, the report details how two- third of the school’ s three hundred students and directly impacted by suicide and required monitoring or intense support. I think that, from this, the students must have been pushed to the limit for them to commit suicide.Students using alcohol and committing suicide to solve their problems is not the smartest solution. As I mentioned before, they do have options and I suggest they use them wisely. If the students are having trouble at school or at home, they need to speak up. They should not be afraid to do so.Also, In the report, it found that less than half of those who start school in the community actually complete their education. The reason for this is that students are wasting away their lives by drinking and killing themselves. They have their entire lives ahead of them. They could be the next Albert Einstein or the next Michael Jordan. It would help if parents were to talk to their children more to show they care and be more involved with them. If they are having problems at school or with a bully, it is best that the parents know. That way they can help solve it. And it will not lead to anything serious. Alcohol abuse continues to be a problem in Nain, with the report noting that the local bar ranked the third most profitable in the province(Newfoundland)behind the two in St. John’s.
